Forget the Oscars…we won a TAF!

GAMBICA has won the Environmental, Social & Governance Initiative of the Year Award at the 2025 Trade Association Awards.

This excellent achievement recognises the important work of GAMBICA’s Environment Impact Survey, created by the trade association’s cross-sector Sustainability group.

The idea behind the eco initiative was for members to come together to help each other improve their performance and reduce their environmental impact.

By filling in details of their company’s annual energy usage, waste and travel on a specialised spreadsheet, they can monitor their organisation’s green progress. The data shows year-on-year trends, it also develops an industry average so members can measure their results against similar businesses in the same sector.

The individual reports are sent to members and not shared with anyone else. GAMBICA’s Statistics Manager, Helena Robinson, converts the submitted data into CO2 equivalent values, showing a breakdown for CO2 emissions across the different areas of the business.

Over 34 members have taken part in this initiative over the last two years, becoming Environmental Impact Champions.

Siobhan Ellwood from Asynt was instrumental in gaining champion status for her company. She said: “GAMBICA calculated our carbon footprint for 2023, giving us a starting point. We can now look towards the future and plan how we’re going to reduce this footprint in the years to come.”

Gavin Pick, Finance Director at Camlab, said: “GAMBICA’s survey provides a great framework, allowing companies to begin seriously considering their carbon footprint. Benchmarking against our peers has been most useful, highlighting areas where we could make improvements.”

Emily Wallace, Chief Executive of the Trade Association Forum and one of the head judges on the panel, said:

“GAMBICA supported their sector with personalised benchmarking and practical tools, this has helped members to deliver measurable action and improvements to deliver on their ESG commitments.”
